How can we help?

Migration

You can migrate files and folders to Folderit using several methods, depending on the amount of data, its current location, and whether metadata must also be transferred.

Migration options

  • SFTP migration: Recommended for transferring large volumes of files and folders. Contact Folderit so we can help arrange the SFTP connection and migration process.
  • Folderit Sync: Use the Folderit desktop application to synchronize folders and files from a computer or file server with Folderit.
  • Web upload: Upload files and folders directly through your browser. This is suitable for smaller migrations.
  • ZIP upload: Upload a ZIP archive and let Folderit extract its contents. This can be useful for transferring an existing folder structure in batches.

Migrating metadata

Folderit can also help migrate document metadata. If your existing metadata is available in an Excel or CSV file, we can review its structure and help map the fields to Folderit metadata fields.

The spreadsheet should clearly identify each file and include the metadata values that belong to it. Contact us before starting the migration so we can confirm the required format and matching method.

Before migrating

  1. Review and remove files that no longer need to be transferred.
  2. Decide whether the existing folder structure should be retained.
  3. Prepare metadata in Excel or CSV format, if applicable.
  4. Choose the migration method based on the amount of data.
  5. Test the process with a small sample before transferring everything.

For larger or more complex migrations, contact Folderit. We can help determine the most suitable method for transferring your files, folders, and metadata.
