Previewing Files

After you upload a file to Folderit, a background process begins generating a preview that can be viewed directly in the system without downloading the original file first.

Previews are available for many common file types, including PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF, DOCX, PPTX, PSD, and AI. Preview support for DWG files is available on the Tailor plan only.

Preview generation may take some time, depending on the file size and the number of files being processed at the same time. It is usually completed within a minute, but longer queues may occasionally occur. Refresh the page to check whether the preview is ready. PDF previews are generally available immediately.

Files with an available preview display a small magnifying-glass symbol on the file icon. Click the icon to open the preview.

Within the preview, you can:

  • Scroll through a multi-page document. Up to 50 pages are shown in the preview.
  • Select and copy text when OCR data is available.
  • Search within the document.
  • Print the file, if your permission allows it.
  • Download the file, if your permission allows it.
  • Zoom in and out.
