What Is Custom Workflow?
Previously, Folderit offered two workflow types:
- Parallel: All participants are invited at the same time.
- Serial: Participants are invited one-by-one, in a strict order.
Now, with the new Custom Workflow type, you can combine the best of both worlds—and more.
With Custom, you can structure your workflow into steps, and each step can include one or more participants. Everyone in a step is invited at the same time, but the workflow won’t proceed to the next step until all participants in the current step have completed their task (approved, acknowledged, or signed).
Real-World Example
Let’s say you’re finalizing a vendor contract.
With a Custom Workflow, you can configure:
- Step 1: Send the document to 3 team members from procurement—all at once.
- Step 2: Once all three have approved, route it to your legal counsel.
- Step 3: After legal gives the green light, send it to the CFO for final sign-off.
That’s three steps, six participants, and zero bottlenecks—all managed automatically.
