Folderit's user interface is now available in all 24 official languages of the European Union, as well as many languages used beyond the EU. That includes Irish and Maltese alongside German, French, Spanish, Polish and the other official EU languages.

For a team working across borders, the practical benefit is straightforward: people can use the same document management system without everyone having to navigate it in the same language. Each user chooses their own interface language.

Every official EU language is covered

The EU has 24 official languages. All are now available in Folderit's interface. Below are their names in their own languages, making them easier to recognise in the selector:

More languages for international teams

The selection extends well beyond those 24 languages. Options also include Albanian, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Bosnian, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Norwegian Bokmål, Russian, Serbian, Tamil, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. Regional options include UK and US English, and Portuguese for Brazil and Portugal; Serbian is available in Latin and Cyrillic script options.

How to change your Folderit interface language

  1. Open the company-name menu in the Folderit header and choose My Profile.
  2. Find Language and select the interface language you want to use.
  3. Click Save to keep the change.

The setting affects your own interface. A colleague can keep a different language without changing your choice. In the same profile you can also choose your preferred date format and time zone.

The profile settings guide explains these options.

Different interfaces, the same shared work

Consider a shared contract folder used by colleagues in Ireland, Latvia and Portugal. One person can choose Irish, another Latvian and another Portuguese while working with the shared documents they are permitted to access. There is no need to create a separate copy of a contract merely to use a different interface language.

The interface setting does not automatically translate the contents of uploaded documents, folder names or information your team enters into records. Agree on shared naming and terminology where colleagues need to search for the same things. If a contract or procedure needs a translated version, prepare and review that document separately.

A European product for multilingual organisations

If European origin is part of your software shortlist, Folderit is also featured in Federal Europa's directory of European products and services, which lists it as an Estonian, European-owned document management product. Language coverage and supplier origin are useful considerations alongside your organisation's document workflows, access requirements and deployment needs.

Already using Folderit? Open My Profile and choose the language that suits you. If you are evaluating it for a multilingual team, explore Folderit and try the interface with the people who will use it day to day.
